What is TLS?
TLS stands for Transport Layer Security. It’s a security standard used to encrypt data and create a secure online connection. When you log in to online banking with BOQ Specialist, a secure connection is established between our server and your web browser. TLS is used to create that connection and safeguard your data. TLS 1.2 is one of the most recent versions of the standard and offers the most robust protection.
Which desktop or laptop browsers and versions are affected?
If you are using an outdated web browser or your browser is not configured to use TLS 1.2 you will be unable to access your account from 30th September 2019 onwards. Only the following browser versions are compatible with TLS 1.2:
Internet Explorer 11
Microsoft Edge 12 or later
Chrome 30 or later
Firefox 27 or later
Safari 7 or later
To check to see if your desktop or laptop browser is compatible with TLS 1.2 please see details below.
Please note: for security purposes, we recommend you always use the latest version of your chosen browser that your operating system will support.
What about accessing from a mobile web browser or from the BOQ Specialist mobile app?
If you access online banking from a mobile device, whether from a mobile web browser or from our mobile app, the likelihood is that if you purchased the device within the last four-five years, the device will already be compatible with TLS 1.2. To check to see if your mobile web browser or mobile app is compatible please see details below.
