Upcoming changes to your Card Insurance Terms and Conditions
We want to let you know about some changes to the Card Insurance Terms & Conditions included with your BOQ Specialist credit card.
The Terms and Conditions have been amended and the key changes are summarised below. It is important that you carefully read the new Terms and Conditions to understand the extent of coverage available and for full terms, conditions and exclusions that apply.
When do the new Terms and Conditions apply?
The new Terms and Conditions are effective on all insurable Events that occur on or after 1 May 2024.
Summary of key changes
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is a summary only. At all times refer to the Terms and Conditions for full details. The key changes are:
- COVID-19 will be treated in the same way as any other Illness. This means where there is coverage for Illness related events under the following sections, it applies to COVID-19:
- Section A – Trip Cancellation and Amendment Cover;
- Section B – Overseas Medical Emergency Expenses Cover; and
- Section F – Resumption of Long Overseas Trip Cover.
- Clarification on COVID-19 definition as coronavirus disease, an infectious disease caused by the SARS- CoV-2 virus, or any variation or mutation of that virus.
- The Illness definition has been revised to include reference to COVID-19.
- Clarification on how Excess is applied to a claim.
- Cancellation, Curtailment or Trip Change as a result of a Natural Disaster occurring on the direct route to your destination is no longer covered.
- Cancellation, Curtailment or Trip Change as a result of a Natural Disaster at your home in Australia needs to be accompanied by official warning issued by an Australian government or an Australian government agency.
- Cancellation, Curtailment or Trip Change as a result of border closure at, or an upgraded ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory warning for, the destination You planned to travel to, is limited to where the border closure or advisory warning is due to Natural Disaster only.
- Clarification that upon termination of the Group Policy, the insurance benefits are not available to Card Members to claim for any Event that occurred after the termination date.
- Clarification that any costs related to pregnancy after the end of the 23rd week of pregnancy are excluded.
- Flight delay or cancellation as a result of COVID-19 is excluded under Section G – Trip Delay Cover.
- Any costs for damage or injuries to a third party vehicle or person under Section L – Rental Vehicle Excess Cover are excluded.
- Air travel for business purposes on a Non-Scheduled Flight is excluded.
- Section K – Personal Liability Cover does not extend to liability that arises from negligent supervision or vicarious acts of a minor or for any criminal proceedings taken against you.
