BOQ Campaign Donates $190,000 for Australian Communities

16 March 2026

BOQ’s business bank has proudly donated $190,000 to support the missions of four leading charities: Beyond Blue, Orange Sky, LifeFlight Foundation and Rural Aid.

The funds were donated from BOQ’s recent business lending campaign, which waived valuation fees for eligible new business loan customers, including a $500 contribution from BOQ to a charity partner of the customer’s choice. Customers were able to nominate one of four charity partners: Beyond Blue, Orange Sky, LifeFlight Foundation or Rural Aid.

BOQ Group Executive, Business Bank, Keith Strachan, said the campaign highlighted how banking initiatives can deliver meaningful community impact.

“This was about more than easing upfront costs for our customers; it was about using our role as a bank to support the communities our customers are part of,” he said.

“Donating $190,000 is a tremendous outcome, and we’re proud to be backing organisations that are delivering real, practical support where it’s needed most.”

The $190,000 donation will support the mission of each charity ranging from free mental health services, frontline homelessness support, critical care training for aeromedical doctors, and practical assistance for farmers during times of hardship.

Charity outcomes and statements:

Beyond Blue: The contribution will support Beyond Blue’s free, 24/7 mental health support services, helping more than a thousand people take an early step towards better mental health.

Dr Luke Martin, Beyond Blue, said: “Every day, more than 800 people reach out to Beyond Blue during moments of real vulnerability. From a clinical perspective, we know that timely, compassionate mental health support can reduce distress, help people feel heard, and prevent issues from escalating into crisis.

“The $70,000 generously raised by Bank of Queensland will support our free, 24/7 Service and enable more than a thousand people to take the first step towards better mental health. That early support can be life changing.”

Orange Sky:The funds will help Orange Sky deliver free mobile laundry and shower services, funding more than 160 shifts and creating over 1,300 hours of genuine connection for people doing it tough.

Lucas Patchett, Orange Sky Co Founder and CEO, said: “No one deserves to go without essentials – clean clothes, a hot shower and a safe place to sit and talk.

“Through the incredible generosity of initiatives like this, Orange Sky can continue to deliver free laundry and genuine connection, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in Queensland and beyond. Thanks loads for believing in our mission of positively connecting communities.”

LifeFlight Foundation: Campaign funds will help support LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctors program, ensuring doctors are trained, equipped and supported to deliver ICU level care in remote, high pressure environments.

Dr Jeff Hooper, LifeFlight Medical Director, said: “Thanks to the support of BOQ for our Critical Care Doctors program. This contribution helps ensure our doctors are equipped, trained and supported to deliver critical care in the most challenging environments, wherever Queenslanders need us.”

Rural Aid: The funds will provide flexible, on the ground support for farmers and rural communities, including assistance with water, feed, financial relief and wellbeing support.

John Warlters, Rural Aid Chief Executive Officer, said: “We sincerely thank BOQ and its customers for their generosity and commitment to supporting rural Australia. Their support helps us continue delivering essential services to farmers and communities facing ongoing challenges.

“This kind of backing makes a real difference, allowing us to extend our reach and provide meaningful support on the ground.”
