Go Orthodontics: a modern practice where people come first

[br]

Accessibility, innovation and care are at the heart of Go Orthodontics. Discover how founder Dr Shaun Goh has built 2 thriving clinics designed around the needs of patients, families and staff.

For many families, orthodontic treatment happens between calendar-packed school drop-offs, afterschool activities, lunch breaks, and after work.

Dr Shaun Goh, founder and Specialist Orthodontist at Go Orthodontics believes exceptional patient care shouldn't create additional stress for the people receiving it.

‘Most of our patients are school-aged children from busy families,’ he says. ‘We selected sites close to key school catchments and residential areas, with convenient access and reliable parking throughout the day.’

With clinics in Kensington Park and Blackwood, Go Orthodontics combines purpose-built practice design, advanced technology and a strong team culture to deliver a seamless patient experience.

Reimagining what an orthodontic practice can be

When Dr Goh was planning Go Orthodontics, he wasn't just looking for premises. He was designing a patient experience to be as seamless as possible.

‘The practice layout and operations are just as important as the clinical care itself. Getting it right took a lot of research, specialist design and attention to detail,’ says Dr Goh.

While many healthcare spaces are designed building-first and the people second, he took an alternative approach.

‘I'm most proud of not only the clinic aesthetics, but how each clinic was designed around the way our team works, rather than expecting our team to adapt to the building,’ he says.

One feature Dr Goh is particularly proud of across both practices, is the semi-enclosed treatment rooms. They give patients privacy, while allowing the team to move efficiently between patients.

‘[The rooms] maximise natural light and make the best use of the space,’ he says. ‘Patients and families often tell us how well the clinics feel and how efficiently our team operates.’

Technology that creates space for human connection

With the support of equipment finance from BOQ Specialist, Go Orthodontics has invested in specialised dental chairs, digital scanners and CBCT radiographic technology.

For Dr Goh, the value of technology lies in its flow-on effect: more effective systems mean better clinical outcomes, giving more time for patient care.

‘Our practice leverages integrated technologies to make clinical and administrative operations more efficient,’ he explains.

‘These tools support high-quality diagnosis and treatment while reducing pressure on our team and improving the patient experience.’

These efficiencies become particularly important during the practice's busiest hours; the before and after school period. The systems working behind the scenes allow the team to deliver a high standard of care while maintaining flexibility and convenience for patients.

For Dr Goh, emerging technologies will continue to play an important role, but only if they help strengthen the human side of care.

'As new online systems and AI tools continue to evolve, they'll help us make better decisions and allow our team to spend even more time focused on our patients,’ he says.

The real differentiator

Despite the investment in facilities, systems and equipment, Dr Goh believes the success of each practice ultimately comes down to its people.

‘I learned that culture must be clearly led from the top and understood by staff on their very first day,’ he reflects. ‘Recognising a poor cultural fit early protects the team.’

For Dr Goh, culture isn't something that develops by accident. It requires clear leadership, shared values and an understanding of what motivates each team member.

That commitment is reflected in the experience he wants patients to have from the moment they enter the clinic.

‘I want every patient and family to feel genuinely cared for, confident in our expertise and more positive after each visit.’

It's also why word-of-mouth referrals continue to play such an important role in the practice's growth. Families experience the care firsthand, and many choose to recommend it to others.

Bringing the vision to life

Since 2021, Go Orthodontics has worked with BOQ Specialist banker Maria Caruso, who supported the establishment and growth of the 2 practices through goodwill, fit-out and equipment finance.

‘Working with Maria has been a very positive experience,’ says Dr Goh. ‘She understood exactly what I needed and tailored a solution to suit my practice.’

That support helped transform vision into reality, creating the foundations for a practice built around accessibility, innovation, and care that patients keep coming back to.

As Go Orthodontics continues to grow, Dr Goh’s measure of success remains simple.

‘To me, success is building a practice that gives more to its community and team than it takes,’ he says.

And in an industry often defined by clinical outcomes alone, that commitment to people might be the practice's greatest innovation.
